AWANA
DERBY TIME
February - 18 - 10:00 am
The AWANA Derby is coming up fast. It will be held here in Victory Hall
beginning at 10:00 a.m. on February 18. Be sure to see Kelly if you need a car.
Even the adults get involved challenging races against other classes. You may
not even build a car but come anyway, it is always a FUN, exciting competition.
AWANA
Wednesdays 6:00 pm
This is a packed time of games and Bible lessons. The children obtain badges as they complete their memory verses and studies. What an awesome feeling of accomplishing one of God’s commands to “hide in our hearts” the word of God.
Kingdom Kids
At First Baptist Church we have ministries that reach out to children and their families. We are blessed to have Kelly Lapp as our Children's Director. She has a true heart for our children and plans many activities, bible studies, and events to reach our children with the love of God.
If you have a child between the ages of 4 - 5th Grade, we have a place for them in one of our ministries. All of our workers have been trained and gone through our "Safe Church Policy" class along with background checks. If you are looking to serve God in one of our Children's Ministries read below on how you can help. Come and visit our Clubhouse to get more information about our Children's Ministries and/or follow us on facebook.

AWANA
AWANA will start again in August at a new time from 6 pm - 7:30 pm each Wednesday. Join us during the summer for "Big Wave Discovery".
This is a packed time of games and Bible

studies. What an awesome feeling of accomplishing one of God’s commands to “hide
in our hearts” the word of God.
What can you do? Listen to verses. Read sections for non-reading children. Donate items to the store. Share your story at one of our mission or council times. Bring your children/grandchildren.
Children's Ministry News
Satisfy us in the morning with Your unfailing love that we may sing for joy
and be glad all our days (Psalm 90:14).
I am not a morning person. And people who know me well know that mornings and I
do not get along. I posted this verse from Psalm 90 on my Facebook wall a few
weeks ago, and my brother commented, “Just not too early in the morning, right?”
It’s not that I hate mornings . . . I just REALLY love my bed. So, I’m not a fan
of anything that separates me from that warm comfort.
That is why I found it interesting and ironic that God sent this verse to me
this year. It was His challenge to me not to forget my morning time with Him. In
the crazy rush of life, that morning meeting with God sometimes gets pushed
aside for just a few more minutes of sleep. But I know why God wants me to spend
time with Him each morning. Starting my day with Him just seems to make the rest
of the day go better. I’m not saying that everything is peachy on the days when
I have my morning quiet time. But that time to focus on God gives me the ability
to make it through whatever life throws at me that day. So, I find myself
repeating that verse over and over: Satisfy me in the morning with Your love.
But we can also look at this verse another way. In literature and other art
forms, morning is often used as a symbol for childhood. One of the greatest
blessings I had was meeting Jesus as a child. This month I will celebrate my
31st birthday. Since I accepted Christ as my Savior when I was 8, I have been a
Christian almost three-fourths of my life. I cannot describe to you how awesome
it is to know that I have walked with God that long. And while I have made many
mistakes since inviting Jesus into my life, I’m thrilled that God is letting me
be part of blessing the next generation in this same way.
Remember: the children who are currently drooling on our floors and coloring on
our walls and running down our hallways will be leading this church in just a
few short years. And we want to make sure they have the skills and resources
they need to be strong, Godly leaders. But, more than that, my heart’s cry is
that these children will be SATISFIED with God. The word means “to be full, to
be complete, to be lacking nothing.” I want them to experience God’s presence so
truly that it fills them to the brim. I want them to see Him and know Him and
serve Him and love Him. I want them to know that God’s love never fails – to
KNOW it so deeply that they will trust Him completely.
Some people may say that kids are too young or too immature to experience God
this way. I disagree – mostly because I’m inspired by these children every week.
But do you know why I beg God to satisfy these children in the “morning” of
their lives? Because I know firsthand that life gets messy – sometimes downright
disgusting. I look at these innocent lives, and I envision what the future holds
for them. Oh, there will be joyous moments. But there will also be
heart-breaking moments – moments of loss, of rejection, of frustration, of
despair. And because I know what might be coming their way, I cry out to God:
“Satisfy them in the morning, God, so they may sing for joy all their days. Show
them Your love NOW. Make it so real and so powerful that they can hold onto it
through the days to come – the best and the worst days.”
I encourage you to check out what God is doing in these kids’ lives. Because,
you know what? He’s answering my prayer in an awesome way. But for those of you
who just don’t see yourself working with kids, I have one favor to ask: pray for
them. Pray for these little bodies that have such big hearts. Pray that they
would find a relationship with God and learn to cling to Him for all their
lives. We do messy, goofy, chaotic work in the Clubhouse. But it is work that
will last for all their days and beyond
His,
Kelly
